This is the essential Music Together class, one that a child can attend from birth through age four through all nine song collections. This basic class follows the recommendations of child development researchers;grouping children of a variety of ages because this fosters natural, family-style learning. Younger children enjoy watching and imitating older ones; older children learn by leading younger ones; and adults are happy because the children in the family can go to class together. Each child participates at his or her own level in singing, moving, chanting, listening, watching, or exploring musical instruments. Any caregivers;parents, grandparents, nannys;can bring the children. Adults, regardless of musical ability, can help create an environment that supports children achieving basic music competence. The whole family is welcome for this important family music experience. Parents receive a songbook, a CD of songs, chants, tonal and rhythm patterns, informational booklet, "Music & Your Child" outlining the current research on early childhood music development, as well as an access code for a download of CD and acces to Music Together online Family Music Zone
MUSIC TOGETHER Babies (Newborn-8 months)
Every child's development benefits from early exposure to music and movement. Because the early months are so important, Music Together offers two options for babies. Babies eight months and younger at the time of registration may attend a Mixed Ages Class, whether registered on their own or attending free with an older brother or sister. Babies may also take the special Babies Class; offered as a one or two semester introduction to Music Together. The music activities and materials are specially designed for parents who want to learn as much as possible about music development in babies. Meet other parents of newborns and learn some fascinating music activities you can recreate at home with your baby. Parents receive a songbook, a CD of songs, chants, tonal and rhythm patterns, DVD outlining the current research on early childhood music development, as well as an access code for a music download and access to the Music Together online Family Music Zone.
Canta y Baila Conmigo® Mixed-Age (Newborn-age 4)
Canta y Baila Conmigo; is music and movement in Spanish for children 0-5 and their adult caregivers. It is a unique program that combines music education and language immersion. With Canta y Baila Conmigo; you and your child will be transported as you sing, dance and play to the irresistible sounds and rhythms of Spanish speaking cultures. Designed for beginners and native speakers alike, Canta y Baila Conmigo; creates a playful, interactive atmosphere where language learning is integrated naturally and organically in the musical experience. Each semester of Canta y Baila Conmigo; features a different collection of carefully selected folk classics, familiar childrens songs and new adaptations of traditional songs and rhymes, all beautifully arranged and recorded for the family take-home CD. In addition to the CD, families receive a songbook containing Spanish lyrics, sheet music, cultural information, and an English Language supplement for Spanish learners with song translations and language notes.
RADIANT CHILD YOGA Little Yogis (Age 2.9-5 Years)
Little Yogis (Ages 2.9-5 Years) learn yoga breathing, postures and meditation in each hour class. Imagination is key with this age group! Activities like: blowing out birthday candles help us tune in and assist little yogis learn yoga breathing. We go on yoga adventures! "Traveling" to faraway lands, little yogis are guided through poses that represent all that they encounter. A tree, a mountain, a lion in the jungle! Music is incorporated into each class to help students remain engaged and relaxed and to reinforce the positive messages of the yoga practice through thoughtful and kid-friendly lyrics. Deep relaxation is always followed by a simple meditation. Each class ends with a mindful game, activity or simple art project. Little yogis will leave class with a weekly coloring page to continue their practice at home (for example a coloring page with a new yoga pose, instructions to practice the meditation learned in class, etc.) Simple meditation props such as gemstones and feathers will be handed out during the series. MINIMOVERS Mommy & Me (Age 2- 4)
Join us for 45-minutes of movin', groovin', singin', and dancin', to your families favorite songs in Spanish. Your teacher will rock out their own arrangements on guitar while your kids play instruments and get exposure to music in Spanish. Each week brings more fun and helps fill the gap until the next 9-week semester begins! Perfect for kids newborn-age 4!
MONKEY JUMP MUSIC PARTY COMBO (ages 0-3 years)
The class is geared for the youngest Mini Movers and their caregivers! Little ones, 2 to 4 years old, will be introduced to movement essentials and develop gross motor skills while grooving to popular music. Adults and children follow along together as the teacher leads the class in the perfect introduction to dance essentials. Each week, the well-planned activities help chidlren develop essential skills, as listening, turn-taking, and gross motor skills, in a fun, welcoming environment that enhances social interaction!
This special class is an hour and a half with a 45 minute unit of music and another 45 minutes of play. Developed by local super-star Vanessa Trien, this class exclusively uses her original kid's music and family favorites! Classes combine a wildly fun, diverse, and age-appropriate music class full of singing, dancing, instrument play, scarves, parachutes, hula hoops, bubbles and more, along with built-in time for more unstructured free play and a chance to socialize with other families. So, stretching beyond the music class format, it will be a community-building music party! MusicMonkeys (Ages 0-3 years) Class will include a lively, guided 45-minute music and movement class followed by a 45-minute free play time with toys, tunnels, sensory experiences & games. Total time: 9:30-11:00 am.
MOVE BABY MOVE Infants Developmental Movement
The emphasis on this class is welcoming the baby's body to the physical world while strengthening the growing spine, exploring the vestibular system (the sense of balance), and finding center. The class includes tummy time, massage, visual and auditory stimulation that will support all the development patterns, including crawling, standing and speech. Encouraging heart-to-heart connection is emphasized through the entire class.
MOVE BABY MOVE Crawlers Developmental Movement
The emphasis of this class is to encourage movement to help crawlers on the go! We will work on the Vestibular system (the sense of balance) and start incorporating more props, as well as rhythm, breath and social interaction. Yoga poses that encourage development are introduced, such as backbends, forward bends, side bends and twists. The teacher engages the children and facilitates parents along the way. Come Balance, Breath, & Bond with your child!
MOVE BABY MOVE-Walkers Developmental Movement
In this level we increase body and spatial awareness while working on socialization and gaining independence from caregivers. Activities encourage cognitive thinking, sequencing, expectations and timing. Language is strongly encouraged through activities that emphasize vocal sounds, songs and rhythmic games. Developmental patterns are fostered through more physical work–playing with balance, falling and standing. As always, the teacher fosters a warm, welcoming environment, making each activity fun and engaging for children, while being available for parent's questions along the way!
